This lovely post card of a Singer car at The Hoops Inn, Horns Cross, North Devon was found for us on e-Bay by our Baywatch Star - or should that be Zsar? - Alan Hillier.
The vendor said it “.. shows the inn with a vintage Singer car parked outside - probably a 'Junior'. An ‘AA’ sign hangs on the inn wall. The card has not been posted, but there is writing on the reverse.” A closer look shows it is a 1928 Junior Tourer and that it is being refuelled. It sold for £3.20.
Googling ‘Hoops Inn’ tells us the hotel is still there on the A39 near Bideford, still with its AA sign, but minus the petrol pump. Its roof has been re-thatched, otherwise it would appear virtually unchanged. Looks the perfect setting for a re-construction if you are down that way!
